Passport photo

Passport photos without the photo booth.

Take a photo against a wall, pick your country, and I crop it to the official size with your head the right height. Download it for an online application, or get a sheet to print at any photo shop. A photo of your face is about as personal as data gets, so it stays on your device.

The usual rules

Look straight at the camera, neutral face, mouth closed.
Eyes open and visible. Most countries say no glasses.
Even light on your face, no shadows behind you.
Nothing covering your face or hair, unless it's for religious or medical reasons.
A recent photo, usually taken in the last 6 months.
Nobody else in the photo, and no filters or beauty mode.

Check before you print

Every country has its own rules, and they change now and then. The sizes here are the common official ones, but the final word is always your government's website or the embassy you're applying at. Not in the list? Pick “Most other countries”: 35 × 45 mm is the international standard that most passports use.
