Favicon generator

One logo, every icon a site needs.

The tiny picture in the browser tab, the icon on an iPhone home screen, the one Android cuts into a circle, the manifest that names your site. Drop a logo, pick a background, download the lot. Nothing gets uploaded, so your unreleased logo stays yours.

Questions, probably

  • Do I still need a .ico file?

Yes, for old browsers, Windows shortcuts and search engines that look for /favicon.ico. The one made here holds 16, 32 and 48 px versions in a single file.

  • Why is the Android one in a circle?

Android cuts icons into whatever shape the phone maker likes: a circle, a squircle, a rounded square. The maskable icon keeps your logo inside the part that always survives.

  • What's the web manifest for?

It tells phones your site's name, colours and icons when someone adds it to their home screen. Without it they get a screenshot and a guessed name.

  • My logo is wide, not square

Fine. It's centred in a square with the background colour you pick. Give it a bit of space around so it doesn't touch the edges.
