Objection letter

Object. Properly, and in time.

A fine or a decision you think is wrong can be challenged, but only within a short period and only in writing with the right elements: what you object to, its reference, your reasons, your signature. This writes that letter, cites the article that gives you the right, and tells you how many days you have.

How it works

  1. 1Pick the country and language, name the decision and its reference
  2. 2Say why it's wrong, tick what to ask for (a hearing, the file, a pause on payment)
  3. 3Copy, e-mail or print it, sign it, and send it with proof of the date

Questions, probably

Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your own device. There's no server that receives files, so there's nothing to leak, sell or train an AI on.
How long do I have?
Netherlands: six weeks from the date on the decision. Germany: one month for a Widerspruch, two weeks for a Bußgeldbescheid. Elsewhere, check the decision itself.
Do I have to pay the fine while I object?
Usually yes, unless you ask for a suspension and it's granted. The letter can ask for that. If you win, you get it back.
Does this work for a traffic fine from the CJIB?
The text works, but the procedure is an appeal (beroep) to the public prosecutor, not an objection to a municipality. The tips next to the letter explain the difference.
