There isn't one. Most “free” online tools upload your file to their server. I skipped the server part entirely.
Your browser does the work
The editor is just code that runs on your device. Opening, editing and saving all happen right there, on your machine.
Your file stays put
Nothing gets uploaded, because there's nowhere to upload it to. Close the tab and it's gone. I never had it.

Collecting your data would mean a database, backups, a GDPR register, a data breach procedure and a 3 a.m. pager alert when it leaks. Hard pass. Your data goes where my free time went: /dev/null.

No catch. The tools run in your own browser, so they cost me almost nothing to run. Hosting a few static files is cheap. If you want to chip in, there's a donate button. If you don't, that's fine too. You get the exact same tools either way.
Do you really not upload my files?+
Really. Your files are opened, edited and saved entirely by JavaScript on your device. There's no server that receives files. There isn't even code for it. My security headers block the site from talking to any other domain, so even a bug couldn't send your file somewhere.
How can I check that myself?+
Open your browser's dev tools (F12), go to the Network tab and use any tool. You'll see the site load its own files and then... nothing. Or open a tool, turn off your wifi and keep working. It still works, because there was never anything to send.
Do you use analytics? Even the ‘privacy-friendly’ kind?+
No. I genuinely have no idea how many people use this. I'm at peace with that. My monitoring strategy is simple: wait until it crashes and people start spamming me on LinkedIn.
Is there an app?+
Kind of, and no app store needed: you can install this website as an app, straight from your browser. It gets its own icon, works offline and on Android you can share files to it. Same zero data. See Get the app at the bottom of the page.
Can I fill in forms from the government / my landlord / my bank?+
Yes. If the PDF has real form fields, you can click and type in them. If it's a flat scan, just drop text boxes, checkmarks and your signature anywhere on the page.
